Liner Notes
Melanie Safka earned her place in folk history long before she stepped onto the Woodstock stage in 1969, one of the few solo performers to hold that massive crowd on her own. These early recordings catch her in the workshop, where songs were still being shaped and tested, offering a window into a creative mind that blended raw confessional intimacy with a theatrical boldness few of her contemporaries could match.
• A fantastic compilation of vintage demo and rehearsal recordings that provide an insider's glimpse into the creative process of one of the great American folk artists of our time, Melanie!
• Witness as Melanie tries out new arrangements and extended versions of songs that were still very new to her repertoire including "Lay Down (Candles In The Rain)," "Together Alone," her gorgeous cover of James Taylor's "Carolina In My Mind" and much more!
• Beautiful 6-panel digipak with full liner notes from Melanie manager and music historian Dave Thompson!
