Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe have always operated in the space where pop intellectualism meets the dancefloor, and Bilingual found them leaning hard into Latin rhythms and club culture at a moment when electronic music was reshaping itself. Released in 1996, the album reflected their ongoing dialogue with underground dance scenes, collaborating with producers steeped in house and Latin sounds. It remains one of their more adventurous stylistic turns.
