Alexander von Meilenwald has spent two decades crafting some of the most suffocating and ritualistic black metal to emerge from Germany, with Ruins of Beverast standing as one of the genre's most uncompromising solo visions. The Ruins of Beverast were formed in early 2003 and named after the most bloodcurdling event of ancient Mid and Northeuropean eschatology - the collapse the Bifröst. This incident bears analogy to the musical aura of the band, which builds their sonic landscape on a downtuned ground. On their seventh full-length album, Tempelschlaf, their cinematic auditory nightmares reached a new level of psychedelia and insanity.
