The Smiths arrived fully formed on their 1984 debut, Morrissey and Johnny Marr already operating as one of rock's most unlikely and essential songwriting partnerships. Recorded with producer Troy Tate and then re-recorded with John Porter, the album introduced a generation to jangly guitar pop wrapped around genuinely literary lyrics, setting the template for nearly everything that followed in British indie music.

Softpack CD reissue of The Smiths' debut album released in February 1984. Includes the single "What Difference Does It Make?".
