Recorded in 1965 for what CBS executives initially feared was too slow, too jazzy, and too unconventional for a children's holiday special, Guaraldi's piano lines and arrangements went on to define the sound of Christmas for generations of Americans who grew up with the Peanuts gang. The San Francisco pianist had already earned a Grammy for his "Cast Your Fate to the Wind" before Charlie Brown came calling, and the warmth he brought to "Linus and Lucy" and "Christmas Time Is Here" proved the suits wrong in the most enduring way possible.

This is the first Original Jazz Classics reissue of Vince Guaraldi Trio’s A Charlie Brown Christmas, the biggest selling jazz album of all time. Featuring all the beloved compositions from the PEANUTS holiday special, the album sees Guaraldi joined by Fred Marshall, Monty Budwig, Jerry Granelli and Colin Bailey. This new edition of the album is released on 180-gram vinyl pressed at RTI with all-analog mastering from the original tapes at Cohearent Audio and a Stoughton Tip-On Jacket.
