The July/August 2016 Relix issue features our Ray LaMontagne cover story and much more! Ray LaMontagne’s latest album and tour are full-on collaborations with My Morning Jacket. After working with The Black Keys’ Dan Auerbach on 2014’s Supernova, LaMontagne enlisted MMJ frontman Jim James to produce his absorbing, atmospheric new record, Ouroboros, which features two musical suites, a throwback to LaMontagne’s formative experiences listening to the two sides of LPs. While James won’t accompany LaMontagne on the road this summer, the other members of My Morning Jacket will serve as LaMontagne’s backing band and help him explore the new material. Editor-in-Chief Dean Budnick examines how the project came to fruition and what the future holds for these compelling musicians.
