Recorded in 1964, the same year Webster made the move abroad that would define the final decade of his life, *See You At The Fair* captures a giant of the swing era playing with the kind of unhurried confidence that only comes from decades inside the music. His ballad work here stands alongside anything in the Verve catalog, a reminder that the warmth and weight of his sound was a direct lineage from Coleman Hawkins through to every tenor player who came after.

Ben Webster's final American recording was one of his greatest. At 55, the tenor saxophonist was still very much in his prime but considered out of style in the States. He would soon permanently move to Europe where he was better appreciated. Webster's tone has rarely sounded more beautiful than on "Someone to Watch Over Me" and "Our Love Is Here to Stay." Verve Acoustic Sounds Series features transfers from analog tapes and remastered 180-gram vinyl in deluxe gatefold packaging.
