Kenny Dorham – Complete 'round About At The Cafe Bohemia (3-LP Vinyl)
Product Details
Kenny Dorham remains one of the most underrated voices in hard bop, a trumpeter whose lyrical authority earned him a place in the first great Miles Davis Quintet and later Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers. This 1956 Cafe Bohemia date captures him leading his own crew on the same Greenwich Village stage where Blakey had just recorded his landmark live sessions, and the full document, spread across three discs, finally gives the night the room it deserves.
Triple vinyl LP pressing. Kenny Dorham's sublime 1956 live album, The Complete 'Round About Midnight At The Cafe Bohemia, features the trumpeter with J.R. Monterose, Kenny Burrell, Bobby Timmons, Sam Jones & Arthur Edgehill. This Blue Note Tone Poet Edition 3-LP set was produced by Joe Harley, remastered by Kevin Gray from the original tapes, pressed on 180g vinyl at RTI, and packaged in a deluxe gatefold tip-on jacket. Includes a booklet with never-before-seen photos by Francis Wolff and an essay by Syd Schwartz.
