When Bruce Iglauer founded Alligator in Chicago in 1971 with a few hundred dollars and a Hound Dog Taylor session, he built what became the backbone of contemporary American blues. Four decades of releases document the electric South Side tradition, the Texas shuffle, and the swampy Delta styles that might have slipped through the cracks of major label indifference, preserving them for generations of listeners who found their way to this music through these very recordings.
