Product Details

Simon Ratcliffe and Felix Buxton built Remedy out of their residency at the Brixton club night that put their name on the map, and that lived-in, sweaty dancefloor energy translates directly to wax. The album arrived the same year as Chemical Brothers' "Surrender" and Fatboy Slim's "You've Come a Long Way, Baby" was still fresh, making 1999 a genuine high-water mark for big-room electronic music with actual soul behind it.

Double gold colored vinyl LP pressing. Remedy is Basement Jaxx's joyous debut album from 1999. It was one of the most assured, propulsive full-lengths the dance world had seen since Daft Punk's Homework. A set of incredibly diverse tracks, Remedy is indebted to the raw American house of Todd Terry and Masters at Work, and even shares the a penchant for Latin vibes (especially on the horn-driven "Bingo Bango" and the opener, "Rendez-Vu," which trades a bit of salsa wiggle with infectious vocoderized disco).
