Product Details

Tony Iommi's riff engine never really idles, and Cross Purposes finds him in sharp, hungry form alongside a lineup that blended Sabbath DNA with fresh momentum. The Butler and Iommi pairing grounds the whole thing in the band's foundational heaviness, while the Eddie Van Halen cameo on "Evil Eye" stands as one of the more unexpected one-day studio collisions of the era.

Digitally remastered. In 1992, following a successful world tour, this incarnation of Black Sabbath was put on hold when the band reunited temporarily with Ronnie James Dio. Two years later, Martin and Nicholls were back in the studio with Iommi to record 1994'sCross Purposes. The band was completed with the addition of founding Sabbath bassist Geezer Butler and drummer Bobby Rondinelli of Rainbow. The album features an uncredited appearance by Eddie Van Halen on "Evil Eye." He spent a day in the studio jamming with the band, and they wrote the song and recorded it together.
