Neighborhoods arrived after a genuine question mark hung over whether blink-182 would ever make another record together, with Tom DeLonge's departure and the band's 2005 indefinite hiatus leaving fans uncertain for years. The reunion brought three members back who had each spent that time in very different creative spaces, DeLonge with Angels & Airwaves and Hoppus and Barker with +44, and those divergent paths are audible throughout.

On September 27, 2011, blink-182 return with the first new album in 8 years. The self produced "Neighborhoods" reflects each band member's different point of view. Bassist/Singer Mark Hoppus states "We each bring a very different aesthetic, talent and sound to the band.
