Product Details
Bobbie Gentry remains one of American music's great enigmas, a songwriter of rare literary depth who walked away from the spotlight at the height of her powers and never looked back. Beyond the inescapable mystery of "Ode to Billie Joe," her Capitol years documented a restless artist moving between Southern Gothic storytelling, country soul, and orchestral pop with total confidence. This vinyl distillation makes that catalog newly accessible for a generation of listeners still catching up to how far ahead of her time she was.
Featuring highlights from the 2018 box set, The Girl From Chickasaw County – The Complete Capitol Masters, plus unreleased bonus material including an alternate take of “Sunday Best,” a demo of “Hurry, Tuesday Child,” an alternate version of “Mississippi Delta,” and many more. The 2 LP set has a 12” x 12” insert with liner notes and a selection of images used in the box set.
