Vibraphonist Bobby Hutcherson recorded Components in 1965, surrounding himself with one of the sharpest lineups in Blue Note's stable, including Herbie Hancock, Joe Chambers, and Freddie Hubbard. The session captures Hutcherson at the edge of post-bop and the avant-garde, a place he inhabited more naturally than nearly anyone of his generation.
