Product Details
Will Oldham has spent three decades building one of the most singular bodies of work in American music, moving through folk, country, gospel, and something harder to name, always circling questions of mortality, grace, and the weight of living. Capturing him in Los Angeles just days after the city's devastating fires adds an unmistakable emotional charge to this document, the kind of circumstances that strip performance down to its essential purpose.
Recorded in Los Angeles over Valentines Day weekend 2025, in the wake of the horrific fires - Ghost of American Psychonauts showcases songs from the (at the time) just released album The Purple Bird along with various nuggets from the Bonnie Prince Billy songbook, performed by a stellar band comprised of Emmett Kelly (bass), Ryder McNair (piano), Dv DeVincentis (sax), London May (drums), Thomas Deakin (guitar, clarinet), Patrick Shiroishi (sax) and Jacob Duncan (sax). Dave Ferguson (who produced The Purple Bird) sings on ""Downstream.""
