Product Details
Julian "Cannonball" Adderley came out of the Miles Davis sextet having already played on *Kind of Blue*, and the Capitol recordings captured him building something distinct from that landmark session, a hard bop sound rooted equally in gospel, blues, and bebop. His brother Nat on cornet gave the quintet a voice unlike any other working group of the era.
Best Of The Capitol Years is an odd compilation, largely because two of it's eight lengthy tracks come from sessions where the alto saxophonist was a sideman, not the band.
