After years singing with Joe Cuba's sextet, José Luis "Cheo" Feliciano arrived on his own terms with this 1971 recording, and the salsa world took notice immediately. Tite Curet Alonso's songwriting gave Feliciano a vehicle perfectly suited to his warm, conversational baritone, a voice that could move between joy and heartbreak within a single phrase.

Cheo is Cheo Feliciano’s debut solo album, released in 1971 on Fania imprint Vaya Records. Co-produced by renowned composer Tite Curet Alonso, the album features treasured songs, mostly written by Tite, including the breakout hit “Anacaona,” the delectable guajira song “Pa’ que afinquen” and the heartbreak bolero “Mi triste problema.” This remastered reissue is pressed on 180-gram vinyl, with (AAA) lacquers cut from the original master tapes for an exceptional listening experience.
