Recorded during a period when Bowie was living almost entirely on peppers, milk, and cocaine in Los Angeles, Station to Station introduced the Thin White Duke persona and marked one of the most dramatic sonic pivots in rock history. The title track alone, clocking in at over ten minutes, remains one of the most audacious album openers ever committed to tape, moving from motorik groove into full-throated soul with an almost cinematic intensity.

Originally released on January 23, 1976,'Station to Station' is David Bowie's tenth studio album. The album is now seen as a musical bridge between the 'plastic soul' of 1975's 'Young Americans' and the experimental beginning of Bowie's Berlin Trilogy that was 1977's 'Low'.
