Deftones – private music (CD)

Sacramento's Deftones have spent three decades defying easy categorization, threading together heavy guitar textures, dream-pop atmosphere, and Chino Moreno's unmistakable vocal range in ways that keep longtime devotees and new listeners equally off-balance. *private music* arrives as the band's ninth studio album, a continuation of the introspective sonic territory they've been mapping since *White Pony* reshaped what heavy music could sound like.
