Don Cherry – Complete Comunion (LP Vinyl)
Product Details
Recorded in a single December 1965 session, Complete Communion unfolds as two extended suites across both sides, a structural choice that placed Cherry in conversation with the free jazz collective spirit then radiating outward from New York lofts and European concert halls. The interplay between Cherry's pocket trumpet and Gato Barbieri's tenor is restless and searching, rooted in the same open-form language Cherry absorbed alongside Ornette but now fully his own.
Don Cherry - "Complete Comunion (Blue Note Tone Poet Series)". Cornetist Don Cherry first rose to prominence as part of the revolutionary Ornette Coleman Quartet in 1959, but it wasn't until he signed with Blue Note in 1965 that he began his leader career with a run of fiery albums including his bold debut, Complete Communion, featuring Gato Barbieri, Henry Grimes and Ed Blackwell. This stereo Blue Note Tone Poet Series was produced by Joe Harley, mastered by Kevin Gray from the original analog master tapes, pressed on 180g vinyl at RTI, and packaged in a deluxe gatefold tip-on jacket.
