Product Details

Don Was has been woven into the Dead's extended family for decades, most visibly through his long tenure producing and playing with Bob Weir. That relationship, combined with his Detroit roots and deep fluency in soul, funk, and jazz, makes this ensemble feel less like a tribute project and more like a natural extension of the music's ongoing life.

Don Was and the Pan-Detroit Ensemble reimagine the music of the Grateful Dead on Live Dispatch Vol. 1: Blues for Allah ‘26, a vibrant collection of live performances, featuring “Help on the Way – Slipknot! – Franklin’s Tower,” “The Music Never Stopped,” “Crazy Fingers,” “King Solomon’s Marbles,” and more.

Fueled by Detroit soul, jazz-minded improvisation and the chemistry of the stage, the Ensemble brings a fresh perspective to the Dead’s endlessly exploratory songbook.
