Maurice White had assembled one of the most formidable live acts in popular music by the time *I Am* arrived, a band whose pyramid-and-sphinx iconography and cosmic Egyptology felt as at home at arena shows as it did on the turntable. The horn arrangements here, anchored by the Phenix Horns, pushed the group's Afrofuturist vision to its commercial and artistic peak simultaneously, a rare trick that very few bands have ever pulled off.

I Am is the ninth studio album from Earth, Wind & Fire.  When the LP was released in 1979 it rose to Number One of the Billboard Top -would Albums charts and Number Three on the Billboard Top 200 chart.  The album has been certified Double Platinum in the U.S. and features the gold singles “Boogie Wonderland” and “After the Love Has Gone.”
