Eddie "Lockjaw" Davis built his reputation in the after-hours tenor tradition, and his chemistry with organist-turned-pianist Shirley Scott was one of the great small-group partnerships of the hard bop era. The Moodsville label was designed specifically for late-night, low-key listening, and this 1960 session captures that intimate mood perfectly, with Scott's keyboard touch proving as elegant on piano as it was on the Hammond.

Eddie "Lockjaw" Davis & Shirley Scott was originally released in 1960 as the 4th volume on Moodsville Records. This newly remastered edition of the album, sees Davis (tenor sax) and Scott (piano) joined by George Duvivier (bass) and Arthur Edgehill (drums). Released as part of the new Moodsville LP Series it is presented on 180-gram vinyl pressed at QRP with all-analog mastering from the original tapes and housed in a Tip-On Jacket.
