Eddie Kirkland spent years as a sideman and touring partner to Muddy Waters before stepping into the spotlight with this 1961 session. His Alabama-born, Detroit-forged sound sits at the crossroads of raw Delta feeling and the harder-edged electric blues that was reshaping Chicago and beyond, and having King Curtis in the room only sharpened that edge. It’s the Blues Man! is guitarist, harmonica player, singer, and songwriter, Eddie Kirkland’s 1962 debut, on which he is backed by saxophonist King Curtis and his band. The powerhouse recording expertly showcases Kirkland’s raw vocal delivery and in-the-pocket guitar style. Released in partnership with Acoustic Sounds, the album has been (AAA) remastered from the original tapes by Matthew Lutthans at The Mastering Lab and pressed on 180-gram vinyl. A tip-on jacket with obi completes the package.
