Bernard Sumner and Johnny Marr's third album together arrived in 1999, deepening the collaborative chemistry that had made Electronic one of the more genuinely interesting supergroup experiments of the post-Madchester era. Where their earlier work leaned into New Order's synth architecture and Marr's Smiths-era shimmer, Twisted Tenderness pushed toward a warmer, more organic sound without losing the duo's ear for a hook.
