Elvin Bishop cut his teeth in the Paul Butterfield Blues Band during the Chicago blues explosion of the 1960s before carving out his own lane as a guitarist who never met a groove he couldn't make his own. By the time *Big Fun* arrived in 1990 on Alligator, Bishop had long since proven he was equally at home in a roadhouse or a festival field, and the company he keeps here reflects decades of mutual respect among players who do this for real.
