The road to *Extraordinary Machine* became a story in itself: a Jon Brion-produced version circulated as a bootleg for years before Apple scrapped it and reimagined the album with producer Mike Elizondo, giving the final release a percussive, almost theatrical architecture. That tension between the two versions became a cult obsession, making the official release a document of artistic reclamation as much as anything else.
Fiona Apple's 2005 album, Extraordinary Machine, is a unique blend of alternative and pop sounds showcased from the upbeat “Not About Love” to the gentle “Parting Gift”.
