Bob Welch is often the missing piece when people trace Fleetwood Mac's evolution from British blues outfit to California-dreaming pop phenomenon, and "Mystery to Me" captures him at the height of his powers. "Hypnotized" in particular became a touchstone for the band's more mystical, introspective side, a quality that would echo through the Buckingham-Nicks era that followed. Welch left the band just two years after this record, making it one of his finest and most fully realized statements with the group.
With 1973's 'Mystery to Me' album, Bob Welch's pop influence was in full gear with him contributing half of the albums songs including the huge FM radio hits "Hypnotized" & "Keep on Going". Christine McVie's "Just Crazy Love", "Believe Me", "The Way I feel" & "Why" round out the album along with a cover of the Yardbird's hit "For Your Love" penned by pre-10CC member Graham Gouldman.
