Franklin Kiermyer – Scatter the Atoms That Remain (LP Vinyl)

Canadian drummer and spiritual seeker Franklin Kiermyer has spent decades pushing free jazz toward something closer to prayer, drawing on Coltrane's late-period intensity and Sufi devotional practice in equal measure. Recorded with a small ensemble, this session captures Kiermyer in the meditative, uncompromising zone he's inhabited since his landmark work with Pharoah Sanders. For listeners who treat the music of Sanders, Ayler, and late Trane not as history but as living practice, this one lands differently.
