Product Details
George Clinton and his collective of cosmic funkateers were operating in genuinely uncharted territory here, threading Black church fervor, psychedelic rock abandon, and raw Detroit soul into something that had no real precedent. Bernie Worrell's arrival signaled the beginning of one of the great keyboard legacies in American music, and the title track's ten-minute sprawl remains a testament to what happens when you trust the groove completely.
Free Your Mind And Your Ass Will Follow is the second album from funk innovators Funkadelic, arriving in 1970 mere months after their trailblazing debut. Famously originating from a single LSD-fueled marathon session, the record saw the band honing their songcraft, while still allowing plenty of space for mind-bending exploratory jams. It marked the official introduction of legendary keyboardist Bernie Worrell, and would go on to chart at No. 92 on Billboard's Pop chart.
