Funkadelic – Free Your Mind And Your Ass Will Follow (LP Vinyl)
Funkadelic Vinyl Records
Product Details
George Clinton built Funkadelic's early sound at the intersection of Sly Stone's communal vision and Jimi Hendrix's psychedelic fury, and this 1970 recording captures that volatile chemistry at its most unfiltered. Bernie Worrell's arrival transformed the group's harmonic foundation in ways that would ripple through everything from Parliament's cosmic soul to the hip-hop producers who sampled these grooves decades later. For fans who trace the roots of extended live improvisation, the title track alone stands as essential listening.
Free Your Mind And Your Ass Will Follow is the second album from funk innovators Funkadelic, arriving in 1970 mere months after their trailblazing debut. Famously originating from a single LSD-fueled marathon session, the record saw the band honing their songcraft, while still allowing plenty of space for mind-bending exploratory jams. It marked the official introduction of legendary keyboardist Bernie Worrell, and would go on to chart at No. 92 on Billboard's Pop chart.
