Product Details
Memphis in 1970 was a city in musical transition, and the Gentrys were right there navigating the crossroads between the rawness that built Sun Records and the softer, harmony-driven sounds drifting in from the West Coast. Knox Phillips had a gift for coaxing unexpected tenderness out of rock and roll bands, and these vault sessions capture a group pushing past their teenybopper reputation into something more personal and unguarded.
Known for their 1965 hit ""Keep On Dancing,"" The Gentrys were a Memphis garage rock band that joined Sun Records as it moved to Nashville in 1970. This collection of rare grooves and previously unreleased lost tracks from the Sun vault showcases The Gentrys, led by iconic WWE manager and personality Jimmy Hart, as produced by the visionary Sam Phillips' son, Knox Phillips. It's Been So Long shares a softer side of the band, blending Laurel Canyon style harmonies with their Memphis rock sound.180g Opaque Sky Blue Vinyl in Single Pocket Jacket with Printed Inner Sleeve
