Product Details
Bordeaux's Gojira were already operating on a different plane when they recorded The Link in 2003, pushing the boundaries of what French metal could achieve on the world stage. The album captures the band mid-transformation, Mario Duplantier's rhythmic precision and Joe Duplantier's riff architecture growing more complex and ecologically charged, laying the conceptual and sonic groundwork for what would follow.
While debut album 'Terra incognita' was more death metal influenced, 'The Link' is musically a stepping stone to Gojira's progression that lead them to 'From Mars to Sirius' worldwide breakthrough. "This is the sound of metal's cutting edge scything through the competition and setting new standards for the future. If you like your music heavy you cannot afford to miss this. " KKKK / KERRANG - "Gojira have, on their third album, unleashed an epic. This is a masterpiece on par with anything MESHUGGAH or MASTODON have released, that sort of massive, lumbering, seething wall of sound that the listener just can't help but become immersed in" 9/10 BLABBERMOUTH. NET - "Think Isis and Neurosis-like ambience mixed with the almost quirky jazz influences of bands like Mastodon filtered through an almost industrial-leaning interpretation of Morbid Angel-like death metal heaviness. Think Meshuggah with actual song-writing skills. I think you need this. " DIGITALMETAL. COM
