Gorillaz – Gorillaz (CD)
Product Details
Released in 2001, Gorillaz arrived as something genuinely strange and new, blending Albarn's melodic instincts with hip-hop, dub, and electronica in ways that felt more like a late-night pirate radio transmission than a debut album. The project's animated personas gave Albarn creative cover to roam far outside Britpop territory, and the result holds up as one of the more adventurous left turns any major artist took at the turn of the millennium.
Blur's Damon Albarn, Del Tha Funky Homosapien, Sky Edwards from Morcheeba and Dan the Automate joined forces to create a ground-breaking new sound. Then they recruited comics mastermind Jamie Hewlett (Tank Girl) to help them create the world's first virtual band. Track listing includes "Re-Hash," "5/4," "Tomorrow Comes Today," plus lots more.
