Jason Lytle wrote *The Sophtware Slump* in Modesto, California, recording much of it on a modest home setup that somehow made the album's themes of lonely machines and disappearing wilderness feel even more lived-in. The result was a record that quietly influenced a generation of artists trying to reconcile analog warmth with digital anxiety, long before that tension became a cultural preoccupation.

The Sophtware Slump, Grandaddy's classic album and one of the most beloved and prescient indie-rock records of it's era, is back in print on CD.
