Product Details

Recorded entirely at Bob Weir's Grateful Dead studio in Marin County during a period when the band had no touring obligations for the first time in years, *Blues For Allah* finds the Dead writing music purely for music's sake. The title suite, stretching across the album's second side, reflects the group's deep mid-70s dive into jazz, Middle Eastern tonalities, and collective improvisation, a side of the Dead that casual fans often miss entirely.

1975's inspired BLUES FOR ALLAH raised the Dead midway through the band's 18 month hiatus from touring after a trio of celebrated Winterland shows. Features six rare instrumental studio outtakes and revealing liner notes by Rolling Stone's David Fricke.
