Amir Bar-Lev's documentary drew from one of the deepest archival wells in rock history, and the soundtrack reflects that scope. Spanning the band's career from the psychedelic Haight-Ashbury years through the arena-filling 1980s and beyond, these 19 tracks were pulled from the same vault that made the film so revelatory, prioritizing moments that capture the Dead at their most electrically alive rather than the obvious greatest hits.

The first biographical film authorized and supported by the band, LST includes never-before-seen archival footage (of performances, backstage, and home movies) as well as new interviews with band members and cultural critics.
