Liner Notes

Gregg Allman's first solo studio album in nearly a decade, "Searching for Simplicity" arrived at a moment when the Allman Brothers Band had recently called it quits for what many assumed was the final time. Hearing him revisit "Whipping Post," the song that made Jacksonville's Fillmore East performances the stuff of legend, as a solo statement felt like both a homecoming and a declaration of independence.

Allman Brothers fans were psyched about track one on this 1997 LP: a fresh, funky, passionate version of Whipping Post. The rest of this gem mixes Southern rock, gritty blues and energized R&B: House of Blues; Wolf's A-Howlin'; Neighbor, Neighbor; Love the Poison; Don't Deny Me, and more!
