Product Details
The Philippines' rock underground of the 1970s remains one of the most undersung chapters in the global story of hard rock, with Manila's club circuit breeding a raw, distinctly local sound that drew equally from American blues-rock and the energy of a country in social and political upheaval. This Akenaton compilation pulls that story into focus, gathering artists who built a genuine scene largely invisible to Western audiences for decades.
HARD PHILIPPINES / VARIOUS An impressive survey of 70's Pinoy Rock, or Rock'n'roll made in the Philippines, with powerful tracks ranging from Hard Rock to tough Glam, Acid Rock or Heavy Blues. Includes tracks by Pinoy Rock legends like Juan de la Cruz Band, Judas, Anak Bayan, Hot Dog, Maria Cafra, Sampaguita, Joey Smith and Wally Gonzalez.
