Courtney Love and Eric Erlandson recorded Pretty On The Inside with producer Kim Gordon and mixer Don Fleming in 1991, and the album landed like a grenade in the indie rock underground. Gordon's influence pushed the debut toward something uglier and more confrontational than most of what was coming out of the riot grrrl moment, a raw document of a band still finding its shape but already fully committed to chaos.
