Irene Schweizer – Prelude To A Kiss & More (CD)

Irene Schweizer stands as one of the foundational figures of European free jazz, a Swiss pianist whose work with the Zurich underground in the 1960s and her long association with the FMP label helped define what improvised music could sound like outside American traditions. A solo piano performance from her is an event unto itself, built on decades of rigorous, fearless playing that draws from bebop roots while refusing every boundary that implies.
