Product Details
Perlman has always had a natural affinity for the American Songbook, rooted in a decades-long love of jazz and popular melody that ran parallel to his concert hall career. His collaborations with Oscar Peterson in the 1970s and 80s showed a violinist equally at home with a swing feel as with a Beethoven sonata, and that warmth carries through everything he touches outside the classical canon. This collection lands as a genuine personal statement, not a detour.
A living legend returns. Widely regarded as one of the last great classical geniuses, Itzhak Perlman releases his first new album in over a decade-just in time for his 80th birthday celebration. Blending his signature virtuosity with a fresh contemporary classical approach, Perlman reimagines iconic Broadway songbook favorites alongside Grammy-winning guests Jon Batiste and Josh Groban, plus a stunning new recording featuring the timeless voice of Ella Fitzgerald. This record is sure to please legacy fans of Mr. Perlman while expanding to new audiences.
