Product Details
Raised in Georgia and deeply rooted in the song-collecting tradition of his father, ethnomusicologist Joe Fussell, Jake Xerxes Fussell approaches the American folk canon the way the best fieldworkers always have, with patience, reverence, and a ear tuned to what a song reveals about the people who carried it. His previous albums drew praise from corners of the folk and Americana worlds that rarely agree on anything, and The Old Beloved Path finds him pushing further inward.
Jake Xerxes Fussell has established himself as a devoted listener and contemplative interpreter of folk songs, drawing from a deep personal reservoir of favorites. The Old Beloved Path, Fussell's sixth album, is raw and intimate, stripping away outside noise and settling into a hypnotic rhythm. Tradition and memory intertwine throughout. Fussell will support the album with headline dates across the United States, the UK, and Europe, plus festival appearances throughout the year.
