Joel Ross has been one of the most compelling young voices in jazz since his Blue Note debut at just 22, bringing a compositional depth and spiritual gravity to the vibraphone that recalls the instrument's heaviest hitters while sounding entirely his own. Gospel Music represents a rare thing in contemporary jazz: a musician turning fully inward, drawing on the sacred music traditions that shaped him long before the bandstand did.

Vibraphonist Joel Ross returns with his 5th Blue Note album, Gospel Music, featuring an expanded sextet line-up of his band Good Vibes with Josh Johnson on alto saxophone, Maria Grand on tenor saxophone, Jeremy Corren on piano, Kanoa Mendenhall on bass & Jeremy Dutton on drums. The album is Ross' sonic interpretation of the biblical story, an exploration of his faith, and the fulfilment of his musical upbringing in the church, which delivers a message of hope and love.
