Joey DeFrancesco came up fast and hard out of Philadelphia, signing with Columbia at 17 after Miles Davis himself called him the best organ player he'd ever heard. That kind of lineage runs through everything he touches, and by 2017 he had nothing left to prove, which is exactly when artists make their most personal statements.

On Project Freedom, Philadelphia native Joey DeFrancesco expresses his viewpoints on current world events with uplifting compositions and emotional tributes. With his newly formed band, The People, DeFrancesco is able to tell such a rich, spiritual story through his music. "All of my albums mean a lot to me," he says. "Project Freedom though - this one means just a little bit more."
