Product Details

Jonas Bjerre spent over two decades as the voice and creative nucleus of Mew, a band whose devotees followed them with a dedication that wouldn't look out of place in jam band circles. Stepping away from that world to score a film about displacement and identity turns out to be a natural fit; the orchestral and atmospheric instincts that made Mew so arresting translate seamlessly into cinematic storytelling.

This soundtrack is the first music from Jonas Bjerre since leaving Danish alt-rock band Mew. Korean-Danish film (and BIFF winner) Hana Korea follows the challenges a young emigre from North Korea faces in the South. Scored by Bjerre, the accompanying soundtrack is beautiful and melancholic, with the single, Hike to the Sun, acting as a bittersweet highlight. Suited to the film’s cultural collaboration, the breezy, sentimental track is a duet between Bjerre and South Korean musician Yeohee Kim.
