Released in 2011, Watch the Throne arrived as a genuine event, two of hip-hop's biggest figures closing the door on any debate about their commercial and artistic standing. The album's rollout, including its surprise digital release ahead of physical copies, set a template for how major rap releases would be deployed in the streaming era.

Since the track's release, the flood of praise for the track has been nothing short of deafening. Entertainment Weekly declares the track "the most well-executed rap song of the year
