Growing up in Baton Rouge as one of Raful Neal's ten children, Kenny absorbed the swamp blues tradition from the inside out, learning harp directly from Slim Harpo before cutting his teeth on the chitlin circuit. By the time *Bayou Blood* arrived in 1992, he was already a two-time Blues Music Award winner, bringing genuine Louisiana soil to the Alligator roster at a moment when the label was defining modern electric blues.
