Morby cut his teeth in the Woods and the Babies before going solo, and by the time *Singing Saw* arrived in 2016, it was clear he'd found his own gravitational pull. Recorded with producer Rob Barbati, the album draws on the dusty American songbook tradition he absorbed coming up in Kansas City, filtering it through a kind of cinematic spaciousness that rewards patient listening.

Singing Saw is a record written simply and realized orchestrally.
