Kim Richey spent the 1990s writing songs that other artists turned into hits, including Trisha Yearwood's "Wrong Side of Memphis" and Radney Foster's "Nobody Wins," before building a devoted following on the strength of her own recordings. By the time she signed with Yep Roc, she had long since outgrown Nashville's commercial machinery, and "Thorn in My Heart" finds her working with a community of musicians who share her instinct for songs that reward careful listening.
